Why Am I Here? - How to Find Your God-Given Destiny

By Lorene Troyer

Every person has a God given destiny, a unique assignment given to them by their Creator. Many people do not know that they have a purpose in life or they do not know what it is. For many years I wondered why I was put on this planet. After I started attending a good church, I received 3 keys that helped me discover my destiny. These three keys will help you as well:

First, get God involved in your quest. Ask Him what He wants you to do and to teach you the things you need to know in order to fulfill the plan He has for your life. You will find answers as you meditate on scriptures but also be sensitive to any non-spiritual means He wants to use to teach you. Do not think that just because something is not spiritual, God can't use it to prepare you for the dream life He has planned for you. Clues to your destiny may be revealed as you walk through the supermarket, surf the web or read a self-help book. You will also want to pay close attention to your desires.

Secondly keep a journal and write down any clues or information you receive concerning your life. Journaling life goals is a way to start but you also want to jot down your desires and ideas you get from reading, meditating or talking with other people. Keep a pen and paper accessible so you do not lose those flashes of inspiration that come. As you read through your journals certain patterns will start to emerge and you will start to find out what your passions are.

The third key to finding your destiny is to spend at least 20 minutes a day reading. Choose subjects that have something to do with your life-- marriage, parenting, time management etc. As you read, you will start to hone in on subjects that really interest you and may decide to do further research on these subjects. As you are read, take good notes in your journal. Read through your journals on a regular basis.

Discovering and fulfilling your purpose in life is an exciting journey and will require diligence and work. You will not have any real joy or be truly fulfilled until you do. Why not get started today. If you do not know your Creator, get to know Him today and start living this rewarding way of life.
